Groveley GDU-01 Datasheet Groveley GDU-01 Datasheet
The GDU has been designed to detect the airborne ultrasound generated from a pressurised gas leak using a piezoelectric disc and conditioning electronics.
The GDU-01 does not detect specific values of LEL or ppm, rather, it responds to the sound generated by escaping gas at ultrasonic frequencies. Such signals are generated when leakage occurs at
sonic velocity; this requires a driving pressure of at least 2 barA. The detected sound is proportional to the leak rate (mass flow rate). In basic terms, the greater the leak rate (large leak), the greater the
ultrasound emitted.
Acoustic gas leak detectors complement traditional gas detection methods used in refineries, gas plants and offshore installations. The unit is factory calibrated and has no moving or replaceable
parts and responds instantly to leaks operating over a wide dB range.
High levels of audible noise associated with high-speed rotating equipment, such as compressors, are filtered out and do not affect the detector.
