Personal Fall Protection Systems

Personal fall protection is divided into three categories;
- Work restraint - These systems are designed and setup up to eliminate the chances of workers falling to a lower level. when attached to a suitable anchor point, lanyards must be of a length that prevent the worker going beyond the point of potential for a fall
- Work positioning - Work positioning lanyards safely secures the worker into position from a body harness on a structure such as a ladder enabling the use of both hands to complete a task. Normally a work positioning system is used in conjunction with a fall arrest system
- Fall arrest - Lanyards are the means of a connection between the anchorage and a worker's harness. They protect a worker by restricting a fall. They must include an energy absorber to limit the impact forces to the body in the event of a fall.
