Shock Absorbing Lanyards

Shock absorbing lanyards are used in fall arrest situations where a worker could be exposed to a potential fall. The maximum length of an EN355 compliant lanyard is 2m and the shock absorbing system limits fall forces to under 6kN.

There are six types of shock absorbing lanyards

  1. Single Lanyards - These can be used individually or in pairs. Individually they provide fall arrest protection at a single anchor point.
  2. Twin Leg Lanyards - Twin lanyards allow the user to move between anchor points whilst remaining attached.
  3. Stretch Lanyards - These are available with an expansion and contradiction feature that allows them to be extended when length is needed with the movement of the worker to avoid slips, trips and snags.
  4. Tie-Back Lanyards - Lanyards with a tie-back facility allow the user to pass the lanyard around the back of an anchor point and connect back onto itself via an additional connection point.
  5. Wrap Back Lanyards - These lanyards have a specifically designed connector that allows the webbing to be passed around a beam and the connector attaches back onto the webbing.
  6. Self-Retracting Lanyards (SRL) - SRLs can be mounted to an overhead anchor or directly onto a harness to limit the fall. Some SRLs are engineered for dual mode fall arrest and rescue mode
