On June 18th-19th 2016 the team of 9 people from a1-cbiss (plus 2 drivers) challenged 'The Three Peaks' to raise money for Claire House Children’s Hospice. The challenge involved climbing the UK’s three highest mountains within 24hrs,

3-Peaks-Minibus

After a mammoth road trip from Birkenhead, Wirral to Fort William on Friday afternoon that took over 8 hours, the team started Ben Nevis at 6am Saturday morning.

They then travelled to Scafell and started the walk just after 5pm Saturday afternoon and after completing the climb, traveled to Snowdonia and started Snowden at about 2:30am on Sunday morning from an unbelievably packed car park. In poor visibility, the team pushed on through the rain, the pitch black with head torches on, and reached the summit of Snowden at 5am Sunday morning cold, tired and wet but with so, an amazing sense of achievement.

Steve Duggan, Financial Director commented "I am proud beyond words of each individuals willingness to give us their weekends and their desire and determination to complete the challenge and demonstrate a team effort that got us all safely to the summit of the 3 highest mountains in the UK in 24 hours"

The 9 walkers should be incredibly proud of themselves, it was hugely difficult physically and mentally but the team spirit and Alex’s boundless enthusiasm has to be admired and we should all be very proud of what we do collectively as CBISS in supporting each other and supporting Claire House with fundraising events throughout the year.

A battle through the pain barrier

Steve added "I do have to give a special mention to Jenny, who managed to complete the challenge with a serious muscle strain and through real tears of pain and anguish that started on Scafell but she still got herself back to the minibus and then incredibly up and down Snowden as well, and Dave, who managed to complete the challenge with cramped up legs but pushed himself through the pain barrier to the finish with the rest of us, a real inspiration to us all.

I am also very proud of the CBISS staff who supported the walkers, sponsored the walkers or even just sent messages of support throughout the weekend, there is a special team bond and spirit across the CBISS business that makes us different, so thank you if you supported us in any way it is greatly appreciated".

About Claire House

Claire House Children's Hospice offer care, support and choice to families whose children won’t live to be adults. We have a modest target of £2500, although this figure barely covers a few hours funding at the hospice. It costs around £6500 a day to run or £2.4M per year.

“Whilst the hospice building is located on Wirral, Claire House aims to offer the very best care wherever and whenever a child and family needs it, whether they choose to come to the hospice or are looked after at home.
