Description

Detects and displays up to 4 gases simultaneously, the PS200 is a gas detector from Teledyne GMI. It is suitable for providing gas detection in a host of applications thanks to its IP67 rated casing.

The GMI PS200 is configured to detect a combination of Methane, Oxygen, Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen Sulphide.

A robust and accurate portable gas detector, the Personal Surveyor (PS200 Series) provides protection in confined space applications. Audible and visual alarms prevent exposure to flammable or toxic gases.

Useful Benefits for the User of the GMI PS200

STEL and LTEL Visible on Screen

Users can visualise their short-term and long-term exposures to Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) by toggling past the ‘MIN’ and ‘MAX’ readings on-screen enabling them to quickly determine current exposure rates and take appropriate action.

Quick Configuration Display

Users can check the configured status (sensors installed, calibration due timeline, pumped or diffusion, and the calibration gas required) of their instrument without fully switching it on. This enables a quicker assessment of the instrument suitability for the application or environment of use.Useful Features for Maintenance or Service

Battery Life

A lithium-ion battery provides run time of up to 80 hours* when using the low power LEL sensor (however, this needs to be bought as an extra).

When your GMI PS200 battery has completely run flat, re-charging only take 4 hours. You can expect an 80% charge within 2 hours of re-charging.

Sensors

The GMI PS200 now comes as standard with a 3-year life O2 cell. Currently, this version containing the 3-year O2 sensor is NOT MED certified.

LEL Sensor Options

A GMI PS200 variant is now available with a 5-year life Oxygen sensor, again this is not MED certified as yet. This new sensor is non-lead based and as such also offers a reduction in the weight of the PS200 of approximately 10g (5%).

The GMI PS200 now has 4 options for LEL sensors:

  1. Standard Unfiltered catalytic (pellistor) bead – ideal for all combustible gases <C9
  2. Optional Filtered (Enhanced) catalytic (pellistor) bead – Removes >C6 combustibles, used for Methane, Ethane, Propane, Butane, Pentane, Hexane and hydrogen
  3. Optional Low power catalytic (pellistor) bead – gives 80+ hrs battery life & Zone 0 certification used for Methane, Ethane, Propane, Butane, Pentane, Hexane
  4. Optional IR Based sensor – gives 80+hrs battery life and reduced weight of the instrument, ideal inert/purging applications, the calibration curve is only for Methane

The enhanced filtered LEL sensor provides resistance to airborne sensor poisons such as high concentrations of hydrogen sulphide gas and volatile silicone vapours.

Handy Features for Health & Safety Management

Increased Datalogging Capacity

The PS200 has a powerful new datalogging capacity that will enable users to capture all relevant calibration and session data over a 6-month period. This increased capacity allows users to log data over a longer period of time. It supports the effective demonstration of compliance in line with audits and internal procedures.

Rubberised Protective Coloured Cases

The PS200 comes as standard in rugged, black casing. To provide maximum protection, rubberised protective cases can be fitted to the detector. These are available in 7 colours (black, grey, yellow, red, orange, blue and green). Choose alternative colours for quickly and easily classify multi-site or multi-application working.

Man-Down Alarm

Any PS200 with the 5-year O2 cell installed can have an optional man-down sensor installed, however, this is not compatible with 2 or 3-year versions of the PS200.

Compliance Capabilities

The PS200 has a built-in safety feature that has the ability to turn itself off when calibration is overdue. This forces the gas detector to be calibrated.

Reminder

The unit will come up with a red screen reminder upon calibration date when you turn the monitor on, it will then skip on and finish the warm-up period. The LEDs will flash red periodically and the screen during normal operations will periodically flash “calibration required”.

Confirmed Reminder

Exactly as above, however, the user will need to confirm by a button press that they are happy to use the monitor out of calibration during the warm-up period.

Lock Out

The unit will go through a warm-up but then enter alarm with a red screen saying “switch off calibration required” the unit will not enter normal operations and will remain on this screen until the unit is calibrated or switched off.

Lockout with Extension

This is the same as above, however, the manager can build in a buffer period that allows the user a grace period (1-30days). The unit will turn on and show the “switch off calibration required” screen, however, they have the option of pressing the confirm key and extending the cal date out by whatever has been set in the unit.

You can only extend once, i.e. if you allow an extension for a week then at the end of the week the unit will just lockout. The idea of the extension is to allow remote workers to carry on with operations without having to take a detour back to a depot for calibration i.e. an engineer could complete his work if he knew 3 days later he was back in the office to calibrate the unit.

Bump Testing & Calibration Log

The PS200 retains the last five bump test and calibration data. The user can also initiate a manual bump test anytime using the low-cost Auto Bump/Calibration (ABC) test station.

The ABC station dramatically improves compliance record-keeping, efficiency, and accuracy. Once the PS200 is placed in the dock it can be tested, calibrated, and charged. Extremely cost-effective, the station requires no testing and minimal effort by users
